VICTOR LUDORUM TROPHY 2012

The final scores for 2012 were:-
West Hove  26,    East Brighton  36,    Brighton & Hove  55,    Dyke  62

MIXED CUP 2012

This was to be the deciding event for this year's Victor Ludorum trophy---there was a nail-biting finish to the morning play at West Hove. The home team and Brighton & Hove were all  square and a play-off was needed. Stuart Rodger and daughter Stacey beat Peter Ward and Judy McKemey on second extra hole. In the other semi--Dyke GC beat East Brighton.
So the outcome of the Victor Ludorum was still not settled with all to play for in the afternoon.
West Hove played Dyke in the final and won the first 2 matches, however Dyke players held fast in the last 3 matches to see them retain the Mixed Cup.

Captains Putter 2012

The sun shone at Brighton and Hove and helped the home team to a win. The team of club skipper Pat Coghlan, Brian Drew, Peter Ward, Peter Harrow, Chris Gill and Chris Pett scored 164 with Dyke's team just 6 points behind. 
The Professional's Cup and prize was won again by Mark Stuart-William (gross 70), and both the Presidents' Salver and the Secretaries Trophy were also defended by Tom Grogan and Peter Baker.

BDGS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012.

Extremely windy conditions led to some high scores at East Brighton. Dean Plant of the home club shot a fine morning score of 72 followed by 76 after lunch to win on 148. Runner Up was Jim Messsenger on 151.
Wendy Francis also of East Brighton won The Mary Turton Trophy for the Ladies with scores of 81-87 Total 168, with Judy McKemey of Brighton & Hove placed second.
The JUNIOR Championship was won by Joe Morley of Brighton and Hove 85-89 Total 174.
The men's team Trophy was won by East Brighton's squad of Dean Plant, Jim Messenger, Robert Foster and Steve Watts.

Wentworth Smith Trophy 2012

BRIGHTON & HOVE DOMINATE and HOLE IN ONE--first up.

At Dyke Golf Club, home club member Dave Eldridge recorded something of a 'first' by holing out his very first shot of the day!!--on the 8th hole. WELL DONE Dave.
Brighton and Hove's squad had a very good day--with Jeremy Spicer winning The Wentworth Smith trophy with 39 points. Also from B & H were runner up Peter Gravestock and 3rd place Mike Atkins.
These 3 were assisted by fellow members James Gill and Ron Bardeaulou to take away the Team Shield as well!
Paul Plant of Dyke GC shot 73 gross to win The Scratch Trophy.

Junior Cup 2012

HOLE IN ONE at Junior Cup

At the Junior Cup, at East Brighton on 20th May--the morning semis were between The home club and Dyke GC with Dyke team winning on count-back. In the 2nd semi, West Hove beat Brighton and Hove 3-2.
The Plate final was won by Brighton and Hove 3-2.
During the main event final, Dave Menzies of West Hove had his first ever hole in one on the 7th ---well done and congratulations to Dave. The match was closely fought with West Hove just beating Dyke team 3-2 on the very last hole of the last match of the day.

Intermediate Cup 2012

Held at Brighton & Hove on another cold day, Dyke managed to win their second trophy of the year.
In the morning semis, West Hove defeated the home team 3-2 and Dyke beat East Brighton 3.5-1.5.
After lunch, The Plate was won by B&H in a whitewash 5-0.
The final (West Hove v Dyke) was a much close contest with 4 of the 5 matches going to the 18th hole. However, Dyke GC just managed to win 3-2

SENIOR CUP 2012

The 1st meeting of 2012 at The Dyke GC was held in fine but breezy and cold conditions. In the morning sem-finals, Brighton & Hove beat East Brighton and Dyke GC beat West Hove.
The afternoon Plate final, East Brighton v. West Hove saw East Brighton's team coming out winners 3-2.

In the Trophy final, things were very close with the match between Brighton & Hove and The Dyke going to a sudden death play off. Watched by a throng of spectators, Jason Turner and Andy Larkin of the home team took on Martin Slumbers and Rob Francis --the first extra hole being halved in fine birdie 3s, but on the second hole The Dyke par was good enough to secure victory.

Our  President for the next 3 years is Mr David Abercrombie of East Brighton Golf Club.David has promised to continue the very enthusiastic example set by our out-going President, Tom Grogan.
