MIXED CUP 2018

MIXED CUP PROVIDES EXCITING FINISH TO ORDER OF MERIT

This re-arranged event after a previous 'wash-out' was held again at Brighton and Hove under sunny skies but with a sharp chill in the air. For the Order of Merit either West Hove or Dyke could have been triumphant depending on results of this day.
Morning matches:- Brighton & Hove beat East Brighton   and West Hove beat Dyke GC.
After lunch, West Hove were favourites to take the Victor Ludorum but Dyke could still possibly have won if West Hove lost to the home club..However...

Finals results:-  For The Plate..Dyke defeated East Brighton 3½-1½ and in the Mixed Final WEST HOVE beat Brighton & Hove in a very close battle with both clubs winning 2 and half matches. So Count Back of holes up came into operation...2 of the matches were won by West Hove with large margins so count back result was 13/5. 

This meant that West Hove also won the Victor Ludorum Trophy for the first time in 11 years!!. Well done West Hove.

CAPTAINS' PUTTER 2018

Held at West Hove, who provided first class greens and an excellent evening meal, the home team proved victorious. Their 5 man score was 168 with 

Dyke GC runners up with 158.

Brad Harris (Dyke GC) shot a 2 under par 68 to retain the BDGS Pro's trophy, with Adrian Milligan (East Btn) 5 shots behind.

SCRATCH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2018

Played at East Brighton on same day as Intermediate Cup, but only over 18 holes instead of usual 36 holes due to shortage of time.Conditions were tricky with strong winds and hard ground.

INTERMEDIATE CUP 2018

East Brighton were hosts this year and made it a 'double feature' event with Society Scratch Championships held on same day due to previous postponement of The Intermediate Cup.
For the Intermediate Cup morning matches, East Brighton defeated Brighton & Hove 4-1, and Dyke beat West Hove by the same margin.
The Plate final gave WEST HOVE victory 4-1.......The main event between EAST BTN and Dyke was a bit closer with the home club winning 3-2.

WENTWORTH SMITH TROPHY 2018

West Hove hosted this year, and arranged excellent weather for the day. 84 players from the 4 clubs competed.
The TEAM SHIELD was won by Brighton & Hove after a tie with Dyke GC on 180, so the next best card was taken for count back with a 34 just pipping a 33. The individual Wentworth Smith handicap Trophy went to PAUL SAYERS (DykeGC) with 38 points, Gary Salt (West Hove) was 2nd and Ian Mitchell (B&H) was 3rd .....all on 38 points.
GARY SALT of West Hove carded 69 gross to win the Scratch Cup with Ryan Rudkin (B&H) on 72 and Nev Hudson (DykeGC) 76.

EAST BRIGHTON DO 'HAT TRICK'

Played at Dyke GC in super early summer weather, East Brighton won for the 3rd time running (incidentally, Dyke won the previous 3 years on the spin)...so come on West Hove and B & H...your turns next!.

Morning results....Dyke beat West Hove 3-2,  and East Brighton beat Brighton and Hove 4-1.

FINALS RESULTS:- The PLATE went to West Hove 4-1 v B&H.

JUNIOR CUP was a close run thing with Dyke looking good with few holes to play but that all went 'pear shaped' and East Brighton clinched it on the last match 3-2.

SENIOR CUP 2018

WEST HOVE HOST AND WIN 1st EVENT OF YEAR

Our opening match of the year, hosted by West Hove, was played in reasonably pleasant weather. Morning semi-final results were:- Dyke beat Brighton & Hove 3-2, and West Hove defeated East Brighton 5-0.

After a good lunch East Brighton saw off Brighton & Hove to secure The Plate.

For the Senior Cup.....this was a close match for old rivals Dyke and West Hove with nearly all matches going to last few holes, but home advantage came through with home club winning 3-2.
